History

Early Year

In 2003, Miki Yoshikawa made a manga debut with a One-shot called Glory Days in Kodansha's Magazine Special. She then worked as an assistant to Hiro Mashima for about 4 years on Rave Master (Serialized: 1999-2005) and Fairy Tail (Serialized: 2006–2017).[1]

Miki stated that she was inspired by Akira Toriyama's panels and manuscripts. She also credits Hiro Mashima for most of her manga knowledge.

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (2006-2011)

During her assistance period, in 2005, Miki submitted a One-shot Yankee-kun to Megane-chan that was later made into a mini-series before finally being serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine starting October 18, 2006. She continued working for Mashima-sensei for a while afterward despite having her own serialization.

Yankee ended on May 18, 2011, with a total of 211 chapters (22 volumes). It was adapted into a live-action drama in 2010.

Following the end of Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Miki Yoshikawa's slot in the magazine is filled by Negi Haruba's 5Toubun no Hanayome, which ended in February 2020. During this time, Miki Yoshikawa drew three new Oneshots.

Three Oneshots (2019)

To commemorate Weekly Shounen Magazine's 60th Anniversary Project, Miki drew three Oneshots, each with a different genre:

  • Hiiragi-san Chi no Kyuuketsu Jijou (Sep 11, 2019), is a supernatural-themed vampire manga, telling the story of Hiiragi Family.
  • The Cuckoo's Fiancee (Sep 25, 2019), is a romantic-comedy manga about two people who got switched soon after their birth.

The Cuckoo's Fiancee (2020-Ongoing)

The Cuckoo's Fiancee won the poll against the other two Oneshots, and was chosen to be the next Miki Yoshikawa's manga. Aside from winning the poll, The Cuckoo's Fiancee filled the romance slot left by Negi Haruba's 5Toubun no Hanayome. The manga began serialization on 29 January 2020[2].
